Longevity Edition

30 seconds for 3 years of life.

19,000 values, 1,000 foods from 3 national food databases (IFCT 2017, USDA SR28, CoFID 2019).

Compare any 2 foods, in seconds.

Pick 2 foods, then switch the goal. The verdict comes straight from official nutrition data, with the source shown.

    Where the numbers come from

Official food composition data from India, the United States and the United Kingdom, checked line by line.

1,000 foods from 3 national databases

Number of foods, by source database and by region.

    Data source: IFCT 2017 (ICMR-NIN), USDA SR28, CoFID 2019.

Chosen by hand, measured by labs

Everyday staples and ingredients from South Asia, Europe and the rest of the world. No branded products. Every value is per 100 g.

    19,000 values re-checked. 0 copying errors.

Result of the independent check, by number of foods.

Method: independent re-read of every original source file.

    Checked, not assumed

A separate program re-opened each source file and compared all 19 nutrients for every food. Every flag was investigated, and 12 errors in the sources themselves were corrected and noted.

Points added and taken away, out of 100.

Method: Alternative Healthy Eating Index (Tessier et al., Nature Medicine, 2025).

    A score you can audit

The longevity score follows the eating pattern most linked to healthy ageing in a 30-year study of more than 105,000 people. The same food always gets the same score.

    Limitations

    1. Per 100 g, as listed

Values are for 100 g of the food, mostly raw or as sold. Cooking changes them.

    2. Fibre differs by database

India's IFCT often reports about 2 times the fibre of USDA and CoFID for the same food, such as guava or garlic, because of method and which parts are measured.

    3. 121 foods have no sugar value

The source never measured it. We did not fill it in; scores count it as 0 and it is marked.

    4. 12 source errors corrected

For example, the digital IFCT copy lists oils and ghee at 0 kcal. Energy was calculated from fat at 9 kcal per g, and every fix is noted.

    5. The score will keep evolving

Some results may still look inconsistent. We are working through the more complex factors behind healthy ageing, and which biomarkers and nutrients matter most, so the scoring model will keep improving.
